Compatible phones
telna Mobile service only includes a GSM compatible SIM Card, that customers place in their compatible unlocked phone. Customers may use either an existing phone (as long as it has been unlocked), or purchase a new or used phone from a local dealer or online. Used phones are often available on auction websites for under $50, and are unlocked most of the time.
Mobile networks outside the United States use various network bands. Not all bands are supported by all phones, and many phones sold in the United States don't support foreign network bands at all. It is very important that you compare the network bands supported by your phone with the network bands available in the country you are travelling to. Network bands found in telna Mobile countries include:
· GSM900 and GSM1800 traditional frequency bands used commonly in Europe. You will usually need a "tri-band" GSM phone to support those bands.
· GSM1900 frequency band first introduced in North America, then deployed in some South American and Carribean countries. Cingular, T-Mobile and some AT&T phones may support this mode.
· GSM850 frequency band used on some North American networks. You would need a "quad-band" GSM phone to support this band and all of the above.
· UMTS2100 third generation network band
Click here to see which network modes are supported in each country. Please note that networks supporting several modes will generally not support each mode in every area of the country!
telna Mobile SIM cards use special software to allow direct dialing of outbound calls. Here is a list of phones that were successfully tested for telna Mobile direct outbound calling. Please note: having a phone from the list below is not sufficient. The phone also needs to be unlocked.
If your phone is not listed below, you may use the following instructions to dial outbound calls from your phone.

Please note that many other phones may support direct outbound dialing, since new phones are released by manufacturers every week. We would appreciate any contribution to the above list. Please contact customer service if you have confirmed direct outbound dialing on any phone not mentionned above, so that we may add that phone to the list. Please note that all information is provided under reserve of possible errors, and it is always the customer's responsibility to check supported frequency bands and network modes with the manufacturer prior to purchasing a phone.
